FLUX 3 Max: 10-Second AI Video in 12 Seconds, 22x Faster Than Seedance 2.5
RenderHour · October 27, 2026 · 9 min read
In short
- FLUX 3 Max makes a 10-second 720p clip with sound in 12.45 seconds on average in fal’s test, against 277.8 seconds for Seedance 2.5: about 22 times faster.
- Speed did not cost quality: on the Artificial Analysis image-to-video board it scores 1,138 Elo, the same as Seedance 2.5 and 2 points behind MiniMax H3 at number 1 (read October 27, 2026).
- On RenderHour it costs 12 credits a second at 720p, so a 5-second clip is 60 credits, about $2.35 on Plus billed yearly by our arithmetic. Clips run 5 to 20 seconds, at 720p or 1080p.
A 10-second AI video with sound now takes about as long to make as to watch. In fal’s test, FLUX 3 Max returned a 10-second 720p clip in 12.45 seconds on average, while Seedance 2.5 took 277.8 seconds, more than 4.5 minutes. The two score the same on the main image-to-video leaderboard. FLUX 3 Max is on RenderHour at 12 credits a second, and you can try FLUX 3 Max here.
What is FLUX 3 Max?
FLUX 3 Max is a video model that fal built with Black Forest Labs on top of FLUX 3, the lab’s video model from July 2026. fal says it post-trained the model for stronger prompt following and better pictures, and reworked inference for lower latency. It went live on fal in October 2026.
- Inputs: a prompt, or a first frame with an optional last frame.
- Length: any whole number of seconds from 5 to 20.
- Resolution: 720p or 1080p.
- Sound: on by default. fal’s API can turn it off; RenderHour always makes it.
- Shapes on RenderHour: 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1.

By our arithmetic, 277.8 divided by 12.45 is 22.3, so in the time Seedance 2.5 makes one 10-second clip, FLUX 3 Max can make 22 in a row. Put another way, it spends 1.25 seconds per second of video, where Seedance 2.5 spends 27.8. The speed-up over its own base model is 10 times: FLUX 3 needed 126.44 seconds.
These are fal’s numbers for the model alone. fal’s model page now says about 11 seconds and more than 25 times faster, and warns that times vary with settings and load. Our own 5-second 720p clip below came back about a minute after we pressed Generate on RenderHour, with the queue and saving the file included. That is still a short wait by the standards of video models.
Is FLUX 3 Max as good as Seedance 2.5?
On quality it ties. Artificial Analysis ranks video models by blind votes: people see two clips from the same prompt or image and pick the better one. On its image-to-video board, FLUX 3 Max and Seedance 2.5 both score 1,138.
| Rank | Model | Elo | 95% range | API price per minute |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | MiniMax H3 (768p) | 1,140 | 1,124–1,156 | $4.80 |
| 2 | FLUX 3 Max (720p) | 1,138 | 1,123–1,153 | $2.55 |
| 3 | Seedance 2.5 | 1,138 | 1,121–1,155 | $34.12 |
| 4 | Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 | 1,132 | 1,115–1,149 | $9.12 |
| 5 | Wan 3.0 | 1,127 | 1,111–1,143 | $12.00 |
| 6 | MiniMax H3 Max | 1,125 | 1,108–1,142 | $5.76 |
| 7 | Seedance 2.0 | 1,121 | 1,103–1,139 | $22.45 |
| 8 | FLUX 3 | 1,086 | 1,070–1,102 | $17.40 |

The ranges overlap, so ranks 1 to 6 are a statistical tie: a 2-point gap is noise. What the board does show is that the post-training worked. FLUX 3 Max sits 52 points above FLUX 3, the model it was built from. Our leaderboard post covers the text-to-video board.

FLUX 3 Max’s $2.55 is a launch price. fal charges $0.0425 a second at 720p and $0.0725 at 1080p, 75% off, from October 15 to November 7, 2026. After that it is $0.17 and $0.29 a second, so a 10-second 720p clip goes from $0.425 to $1.70. Those are rates for developers who call fal’s API from their own code.
On RenderHour you pay in credits from one balance, with no code: 12 credits a second at 720p and 20.5 at 1080p. The price does not change on November 7.

Two things stand out. FLUX 3 Max costs the same 60 credits for 5 seconds as FLUX.3 Video, yet ranks 52 Elo points higher and runs to 20 seconds instead of 5. And at 720p it costs about a third of Seedance 2.5 at 720p, for the same score. Seedance 2.5 still goes to 30 seconds and takes up to 12 reference images; FLUX 3 Max takes none.
What does a FLUX 3 Max clip look like?
We made one 5-second vertical clip at 720p on October 27, 2026, a street-food shot of the kind food and travel accounts post on Reels and TikTok. It is not edited beyond compression for the web, and plays without sound here.
What we see: the first 2 seconds are a static close-up of rows of skewers over glowing charcoal, with string lights and a blurred crowd behind; a flame flares up from the grill and a gloved hand reaches in. Then the clip cuts to a lower angle, where a gloved hand brushes sauce onto the skewers. The light, smoke and market stay consistent across the cut. The faults: the prompt asked for a slow push-in and got a cut instead, and the meat looks pale and evenly cooked, with no glossy sauce on it by the end. The file came with a mono sound track.
Prompt · FLUX 3 Max
Night market street food, close-up of skewers sizzling on a charcoal grill, flames flaring and sparks rising, a vendor's hands in black gloves turning the skewers and brushing on glossy sauce, smoke drifting through warm string lights, blurred colorful lanterns in the background, slow push-in, loud sizzle and crackle with distant crowd chatter.
FLUX 3 Max in 6 numbers
- 22 clips: what FLUX 3 Max can make, one after another, in the 277.8 seconds Seedance 2.5 needs for one, by our arithmetic.
- 1.25 seconds of waiting per second of video, against 27.8 for Seedance 2.5. That is what “close to real time” means here.
- 7.55 seconds: fal’s other post-trained model, MiniMax H3 Max, is faster still in the same comparison, but scores 13 Elo points lower on the board.
- +52 Elo over FLUX 3, the model it started from, while getting 10 times faster. A speed-up often costs quality; here both went up.
- 13 times: the gap between Seedance 2.5’s API price per minute ($34.12) and FLUX 3 Max’s launch price ($2.55), at the same score.
- November 7: the day fal’s 75% discount ends and its API price for FLUX 3 Max goes up 4 times.
What FLUX 3 Max means if you make videos for social and ads
- Test more ideas per hour. When a clip comes back in about a minute, you can try several hooks for a Reel in one sitting and keep the one that works.
- Draft short, then go long. Try the prompt as a 5-second clip for 60 credits, then make the 15- or 20-second version once the look is right.
- Use the first and last frame for reveals. Give it a product shot to start on and the packshot to end on, and it fills the move between them, with sound.
- Keep Seedance 2.5 for long takes and references. For 30-second clips or a product that must match up to 12 photos, Seedance 2.5 is still the one. See all fast models for other quick options.
